To all our book lovers out there, here’s your books-to-read list covered for 2022. 

Two of our Leader’s at KAPITAL, Kumar Mangala and Phil Shipos, have constantly been reading, learning, and sharing. They have always encouraged the team here to read, learn and evolve. At the same time, they have been kind enough to share their recommendations with the rest of the world.

As a wise man once said, “Books are the treasure house of knowledge.” and rightly so. It has truly helped the team in our transformation journey, and we wish the same for you.

Here’s a list of the books you cannot miss out on if you wish to amplify your growth - 

1) Atomic Habits by James Clear

Why should you give it a read?

A  definitive guide to breaking bad behaviors and adopting good ones in four steps shows how small, incremental; everyday routines compound into massive, positive change over time. 

In a sentence, Atomic Habits is a valuable primer on forming the right habits and ditching the bad ones.

 

2) Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek 

Why should you give it a read? 

Using case studies and examples, Simon Sinek talks about the importance of leadership in his book; Leaders Eat Last. Why it is the need of the hour and why the current system is failing us. In the workforce and other areas, we currently prioritize numbers over people, which is highly detrimental.

 

3) The Obstacle Is The Way by Ryan Holiday

Why should you give it a read?

If you are looking to pick up a book with practical business advice rather than a dusty philosophy tome, this book is for you. 

The one thing that makes this relatively short book so engaging is that it is packed with stories. Each brief chapter focuses on a principle, usually illustrated with at least one example of a leader who employs that principle to overcome adversity.



4) Wherever You Go, There You Are by Jon Kabat-Zinn

Why should you give it a  read? 

The book outlines the Buddhist technique of “mindfulness”: a method of living fully in the moment without judgment. Kabat-Zinn explains how to fully enjoy the present moment without worrying about the past or the future. The book provides step-by-step, formal, and informal meditation practices that one can easily incorporate into everyday life. 

 

5) Tiny Habits by BJ Fogg

Why should you give it a read?

Through powerful stories, the book provides practical ways to improve your systems. Another interesting angle is the focus on identity-based change. Tiny Habits’ value lies in the Fogg Behavior Model. A simple way to understand how behavior happens so that you can change your habits.

 

6) The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

Why should you give it a read?

The book reveals the source of self-limiting beliefs that rob us of joy and create needless suffering.  The book is based on ancient Toltec wisdom and offers a powerful code of conduct that can rapidly transform your life. You need to get to reading this one already.

 

7) The Talent War by Mike Sarraille and George Randle

Why should you give it a read?

For your organization to win, you need to attract and retain the best talent. That is not possible without the right strategy or mindset. After all, your people, not your product or service, are your strongest competitive advantage.

8) Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer Johnson

Why should you give it a read?

The book tells a parable, which you can directly apply to your own life to stop fearing what lies ahead and instead thrive in an environment of change and uncertainty.

It describes a simple pattern of embracing change, finding success, looking out for more change, and then embracing it again. This would eventually help you cultivate a much more optimistic attitude towards life.

Why should you give it a read?

10) The Tao Of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff

Why should you give it a read?

Last but definitely not least! Through the brilliant and witty dialog with the beloved Pooh-bear and his companions, the author explains with ease and aplomb that rather than being a distant and mysterious concept, Taoism is as near and practical to us as our morning breakfast bowl.
